The Need for a Centralized Hindu Religious Affairs Body

Hindu society currently lacks a unified organization to oversee and manage its religious, cultural, and social affairs. Unlike other faiths that have institutional bodies safeguarding their religious interests, Hindus do not have a centralized structure to address issues related to temples, property management, marriages, economic matters, and community welfare. Such a body is essential to ensure the preservation, promotion, and harmonious functioning of Hindu religious and cultural practices in an increasingly globalized and diverse world. This organization could also serve as a representative voice for Hindus on issues of societal importance, fostering unity and collective progress.

The Weaponization of Bollywood Against Hinduism

Over the decades, Bollywood has been criticized for its portrayal of Hindu culture and traditions. Investigative work, such as that by the Twitter handle Gems of Bollywood, has revealed a pattern of content that undermines Hindu values while subtly promoting Abrahamic ideologies. From its inception in the 1920s, Bollywood has been accused of engaging in a sustained campaign to deracinate Hindus, fostering a sense of shame and alienation among them regarding their faith and traditions.

This ideological conditioning aims to create a generation that perceives Hinduism as the root cause of societal problems while glorifying other faiths. By systematically demeaning Hindu practices and portraying them as regressive, the industry has cultivated an inferiority complex in Hindu audiences, making them susceptible to cultural erosion and religious disaffection.

The Role of Education and Media in Propaganda

The propagation of anti-Hindu narratives begins early, often embedded within educational curricula. This ensures that even those students who may not excel academically absorb the biases subtly woven into their learning materials. Once this foundation is laid, mainstream media and the entertainment industry further reinforce these ideas, perpetuating a cycle of cultural disconnection and misinformation.

The entertainment sector, especially Bollywood, plays a pivotal role in shaping societal norms and values. However, its output has been criticized for promoting themes that are destructive to societal harmony and moral fabric, including:

  • Vulgarity and Objectification: Normalizing indecent behaviour and eroding the sanctity of cultural norms.
  • Mockery of Virtue: Ridiculing positive values and promoting destructive ideologies.
  • Glorification of Crime and Violence: Portraying criminality as glamorous or aspirational.
  • Romanticizing Infidelity: Normalizing extra-marital affairs, which destabilize families and communities.
  • Elitism and Materialism: Perpetuating the idea that wealth and status determine worth.
  • LGBTQ+ Agenda: Aggressively pushing narratives that may conflict with traditional Hindu values.

These narratives not only distort societal values but also alienate Hindus from their roots.

Reforming the Certification Process: A Need for the Sanatan Board

To address the systemic issues in Bollywood, the existing censor board must be replaced with a new body aligned with Hindu cultural values—a Sanatan Board. This board would be empowered to review and certify films, ensuring that content harmful to Hindu society is curtailed. While freedom of speech and artistic expression are important, they cannot come at the cost of cultural degradation and the disintegration of societal harmony.

The Sanatan Board would prioritize content that upholds Hindu Dharma and societal values, discouraging vulgarity, propaganda, and divisive narratives. By promoting films that reflect the ethos of Hindu culture and values, the entertainment industry can serve as a tool for cultural preservation rather than erosion.

The time has come for Hindus to organize and safeguard their cultural and religious heritage. Establishing a central body to manage Hindu religious affairs and addressing the biases in media and education are critical steps in this direction. The community can ensure its survival and growth in a rapidly changing world by fostering unity and creating platforms that respect and promote Hindu values.
